Description Edinburgh Royal Choral Union: Box 4 of 6 (1968-83)
Collection of ca. 250 programmes, newspaper cuttings, handbills, correspondence, and prospectuses from seasons 111-125 of the Edinburgh Royal Choral Union, with every season in a separate envelope within the box. There are also ca. 50 posters from all seasons, grouped together. Seasons 124 and 125 (1981/82 and 1982/83) also contain contracts pertaining to soloists and hall rental. Within each envelope is a list of all the concerts performed in that particular season (not all of which have programmes), with a record of venue, works performed, conductor, orchestra, and soloists, and indications of first performances in Edinburgh and Scotland. Most of the programmes have been signed by soloists and conductors.

Highlights of the collection:
20/12/68: With the Scottish National Orchestra conducted by Charles Mackerras, with soloists Patricia Clark (soprano), Maureen Lehane (mezzo-soprano), David Hillman (tenor), and Stafford Dean (bass): Usher Hall.
1/1/70: Conducted by Brian Head with soloists Doreen Price (soprano), Margaret Cable (contralto), Ian Partridge (tenor), and Michael Rippon (bass-baritone): Usher Hall.
29/4/72: With the Reid Orchestra conducted by Brian Head, with soloists Felicity Palmer (soprano) and David Thomas (bass): McEwan Hall.
14/10/72: Vaughan Williams Centenary Concert, with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by Christopher Seaman, and with soloists Sheila Armstrong (soprano) and Thomas Hemsley (baritone): Usher Hall.
8/3/75: Conducted by Alexander Scott with soloists Valerie Hill (soprano), Helen Cochrane (contralto), Peter Bamber (tenor), and Peter Morrison (bass): Music Hall.
1/5/77: Choral and Orchestral Concert for the International Gathering of the Clans. With the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Scottish Singers conducted by Brydon Thomson, with soloists Enid Bannatyne (soprano), Clifford Hughes (tenor), Linda Finnie (mezzo-soprano), and Geoffrey Davidson (baritone): Usher Hall.
23/4/83: With the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by Charles Groves, with soloists Margaret Marshall (soprano) and Stephen Roberts (baritone): Usher Hall.
